But now the time has come for other people to enjoy them, which is why we present it for sale! Whether you enjoy living in historic houses with soul or are considering investing in this type of unique property, you must consider this Pazo declared BIC. It has many possibilities as it can accommodate tourist activities, hospitality, and events, as in addition to the main house, the Pazo has a completely open plan floor where a new accommodation project can be developed. It also has a secondary dwelling, which was for the service. Surrounded by spectacular gardens and an area that used to be a vegetable garden, now the parking area could be installed. It also has a chapel that has a lot of history, dating back to the year 1664. In the photos, you can appreciate the care with which the entire interior and exterior premises are maintained. The high ceilings are rehabilitated with noble woods, with many beams brought from abroad given the enormous size of the rooms. It is furnished with charm, following the style of the houses, where we can observe the difference in furniture between both houses as well as the size of the rooms and bedrooms within them. The property surrounded by walls has some centuries-old trees, such as a large plane tree at the entrance of the Roman road, a typical species that has always marked the most important routes. Now let us tell you a little bit about the history: This imposing building is considered the largest Pazo in the region, as well as its dovecote, located on the outskirts of the old city of Mondoñedo (one of the seven capitals of the ancient Kingdom of Galicia). It preserves a stretch of Roman road and was the headquarters of the so-called in the medieval documents, Torre Vieja, a strategic defensive place: in fact, the views are impressive from all cardinal points, a great panoramic view of the Valley where the city is located. The dungeons are still medieval, preserving windows with splay and arches in stone. The main door is headed by a large coat of arms with uncommon symbolism, as it is not easy to see fish in coat of arms, and there are 7 of them as if referring to the 7 capitals of the Ancient Kingdom. Below the large coat of arms, there is a legend written by Licenciado Molina, a sixteenth-century canon from Malaga, which also refers to the English woman, probably referring to Elizabeth I of England who sent ships and pirates to these coasts to plunder Spain of its treasures. The legend has on the sides the columns of the "Non Plus Ultra" (of Hercules) which in Spain is synonymous with civil and criminal jurisdiction. It also preserves the column of justice, a stone column where the most lenient sentences were executed, while the most severe ones had a gallows built next to it for capital punishment. The current construction is the work of the Cantabrian architect Diego Ibáñez Pacheco, the same one who built the cloister of the cathedral in Mondoñedo, reusing the same stones that were part of the old tower and the shields that were part of the medieval construction. After the transfer of the concepcionist nuns within the walls in the 18th century, there is evidence that part of the Pazo was dismantled to build the current convent. There are remnants of this demolition in the Pazo. Among the owners who owned this building was also the wife of Judge Ramón Pedrosa Andrade, who executed Mariana Pineda in Granada (the first woman to die by garrote for supporting the liberal party).
