Montauban
Located just half an hour from Montauban, this 19th century folly boasts a beautiful 2 hectare park and a separate house. The entrance to the property is marked by a large gate with elegant white square columns, adorned with the gold initials of the original owner's wife. Perched on the side of a hill overlooking the surrounding orchards, the folly, spanning three levels, is nestled in a lush park with century-old trees. Hidden from the view of passersby, only its old watchtower and roof peek out from the canopy. A winding asphalt path meanders around a wooded hill leading to the main villa. The three-story home, with a basement, is topped by a slate roof and adorned with two sitting dogs and three pink brick chimneys. To the northwest, the watchtower spire reaches approximately 25 meters high. To the south, it overlooks a 10 x 4 meter pool, with a double staircase leading to a wide terrace wrapping around three sides of the villa. A white stone balustrade with oval motifs, innovative for its time, protects two sets of symmetrical stairs that bridge two indoor greenhouses and the terrace. The main facade, crafted from stone and brick, is covered in a light pink stucco and crowned with an open pediment bordered by a scalloped white wooden valance. Each of the two floors of the villa features a centrally located balcony, also in white wood, with intricately carved scrollwork. Finally, the path leading back down to the southwest corner of the park guides you to a separate annex house with two garages and a barn, accessible through an independent gate. Priced at 960,000, this property is truly a unique gem that offers a blend of history, elegance, and charm. The stunning grounds and architectural details make it a standout among Montauban properties.
