Fastighetsbeskrivning

In a medieval village in the Provencal Rhône, a 15th-century village house with terraced gardens at the foot of a castle. Under the protective gaze of the 12th-century castle, this property, spread over three levels and situated at the corner of a street and an alley, boasts the appearance of a sturdy village house. With its two buildings and wide facades covered in ancient lime plaster, it stands out from neighboring buildings with its authentic deep red hue, which has remained unchanged over the centuries. The main facade, belonging to the first building, features a carriage entrance with a finely carved stone frame. The half-columned lintel is adorned with statuettes of an angel and a devil on either side. A low-arched bay window complements the openings on this level. The windows on the second and third floors, also arched, are aligned with those on the ground floor. They are tall and narrow on the second floor, almost square under the eaves. The north elevation shows a vertical division between the first building, with its west-facing single-sided roof towards the street, and the second building, extending eastwards with an identical roof facing north towards the alley, a perpendicular dead-end to the street. The roofs are covered in canal tiles and bordered by a triple cornice. A few square windows, likely dating back to the 15th century, have been pierced here and there in the northern facade, through which a full-arched carriage entrance provides access to the upper main living area. The rest of the constructions and the garden to the east are not visible from the public road. An initial visit from the regional directorate of cultural affairs confirmed the hypothesis of a noble enclosure that once housed the dwelling of a wealthy merchant or a powerful family. A detailed archaeological study would be necessary to determine its origin. This unique property offers a rare glimpse into the past, with its historic charm and potential for restoration and renovation. Priced at 480,000, this property presents a great opportunity for buyers looking to own a piece of medieval history in the picturesque village of Orange.
