Just 10 minutes from Montreuil-sur-Mer, an authentic 19th century flour mill, its master's house and numerous outbuildings await you. Cross a small bridge over a stream, and the Picard mill, bordered by it, reveals itself at the end of an alley lined with meadows and stands amidst green pastures. A wrought iron gate grants access to the main courtyard. The property consists of the old mill, an adjoining master's house, and vast outbuildings forming a second courtyard at the back. Across from it, a renovated pavilion opens onto the garden, which stretches down to the river. The current mill succeeded older ones that belonged to the local lords who participated in the Crusades and some perished at Azincourt. Their castle, now gone, stood in the meadow on the other side of the stream, behind the mill. Only the motte where it was built has survived. Likely halted during the Revolution, the mill left traces of its activity during the 19th century, mentioned in the 'Pas-de-Calais directory' of 1867 and a newspaper from 1883, which featured an announcement by the miller seeking a 'capable mill guard'. In 1890, the mill burned down and was rebuilt the same year. It was at this time that the current master's house was constructed. In 1933, the 'modernity of the era' saw the demise of the wheel, replaced by a turbine. The mill remained in operation until March 31, 2024. Considering the historical significance and unique features of this property, the asking price of 330,000 seems quite reasonable. Don't miss the opportunity to own a piece of history in a picturesque setting in Montreuil.
